Sapodilla Plum / Naseberry (Sapota/Chikoo) Plants
Naseberry plant is evergreen and delicious fruit tree, which is known as “Sapota” in Bengali and belongs from family of “Sapotaceae”. Scientific name of this plant is “Manilkara zapota” and “Pouteria sapota” and naseberry fruit is juicy, sweet and melting. It is green colored in unripe condition and in ripe condition it is brown in color, flesh color is brownish, pinkish or orange. Its seeds are shiny and dark brown in color.
Naseberry plant is a maintaining plant. In young time of naseberry plant, it needs over 0°C temperature but for mature naseberry plant over -5°C temperature and between 15°C to 35°C temperature is perfect; over 35°C temperature is harmful for its growth. Over 275cm temperature is harmful for this plant; it needs moist and well-drained soil. For well growth of this plant it needs regular fertilizer and liquid fertilizer is good for this plant. Nitrogen fertilizer is preferable for this plant growth.
